Job Description - Community & Family Counseling Services, Clinician

TITLE: Clinician
PROGRAM: Community & Family Counseling Services
REPORTS TO: Clinical Supervisor
STATUS: Full/Part Time, Fee for Service Position

SUMMARY: Clinicians are responsible for providing a range of clinically appropriate services to adults, children, families, couples, and groups.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. To provide a variety of treatment services including individual, group, family, and marital therapy.
  2. To provide clinical services such as intake/diagnostic evaluations, case evaluations, and crisis intervention.
  3. To participate in liaison work with other agencies as required.
  4. To participate as a member of an interdisciplinary treatment team.
  5. To participate in regularly scheduled clinical supervision.
  6. To maintain clinical records in accordance with insurance regulations and established clinic policies and procedures.
  7. To comply with clinical productivity standards as established by Clinical Director.
  8. To be available for after-hours telephone contact for clients in crisis.
  9. To participate in rotating backup clinical support via on-call cell phone rotation schedule.
  10. To perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES NECESSARY:

  1. Ability to provide clinically sound treatment services based on client needs and treatment plans.
  2. Demonstrated understanding of diagnostic evaluation methods, mental status exams, and use of the DSM-IV.
  3. Ability to respond to a range of clients’ needs using differential diagnoses and treatment approaches.
  4. Ability to provide appropriate crisis intervention services.
  5. Ability to maintain clinical records in timely compliance with agency policies and procedures.
  6. Ability to work collaboratively with other community agencies on behalf of clients and/or the agency.
  7. Demonstrated understanding of sound ethical practice in conjunction with the established and defined ethics of one’s training and discipline.
  8. Ability to effectively organize time and responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Masters Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or related discipline from an accredited educational institution.
  • Two years of post-masters supervised clinical experience in multidisciplinary mental health setting. (one year of supervised clinical work in an organized graduate internship program may be substituted for each year of full-time experience).
  • Licensed or licensed eligible in accordance with current Massachusetts regulations.
  • US Citizenship or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.
